About Us
DCIJ is a community-powered, activist-led coalition defending the rights and dignity of migrants across Delaware. Rooted in values of justice, love, and collective care, we bring together organizers, families, and advocates to build safety, power, and belonging for all, especially Black, Brown, and Indigenous migrant communities.
Our Vision
A just, safe, and thriving Delaware where migrant communities are not only protected from harm, but empowered to lead transformative change. We envision a future where our people are free to live, heal, organize, and thrive.
Our Mission
We combat injustice, respond to crisis, and invest in long-term change. DCIJ builds grassroots power by informing our communities, mobilizing support during immigration enforcement actions, and developing leaders grounded in equity and care. Our work is intentionally anti-racist, anti-colonial, and intersectional.
What We Do:
Community Protection & Crisis Response
-
Operate a 24/7 multilingual hotline to report immigration enforcement and access emergency resources.
-
Deploy trained rapid response teams to verify, document, and support during ICE encounters.
-
As an organization, we oppose all expansion of and collaboration with ICE.
Outreach & Education
-
Distribute accurate and accessible Know Your Rights information throughout Delaware.
-
Canvass in impacted neighborhoods to connect people to resources and trusted information.
-
Host workshops and community forums that debunk misinformation and empower people to take action.
Healing & Organizing
-
Facilitate healing circles and training to address historical and generational trauma.
-
Offer anti-racism, anti-Blackness, and anti-colonial education that centers lived experiences.
-
Cultivate community organizers through leadership programs grounded in love and liberation.
Long-Term Power Building
-
Support community members in leading campaigns, advocating for policy change, and running for office.
-
Collaborate with coalitions statewide to shift systems and uplift grassroots priorities.
-
Strengthen our internal infrastructure and fundraising to sustain this movement for the long haul.

Whether you have been impacted, are ready to volunteer, or seek to support our mission, there is a place for you here. Together, we can protect one another, challenge injustice, and co-create a Delaware where all migrants belong.
We connect people to direct aid through our partners, with the intention of developing in-house support as our capacity grows.
